Studio

As an ambassador for artists, I encourage artists to expand their vision, to take creative risks — to cross boundaries of art and design and of form and function, if they are so inspired.

An example: an accomplished Philadelphia bronze and glass sculptor expressed his vision for a sink where water would flow through cast bronze hands. When I asked what was preventing him from realizing it, he simply replied, “it’s hard to show a sink in a gallery”. Given the opportunity to create the sink and install it
in situ for Gallery in the Garden, he was able to fulfill a desire to create functional sculpture, that has since resulted in private commissions.
